As a child, little Christian discovered gardening in Granville. This house called “Les Rhumbs” overlooks the bay of Mont Saint Michel and stands proudly on a marvelous cliff. His mother and his beloved sister Catherine, his muse and his confidante at all times initiated him into floral magic.Christian Dior sought all his life to rediscover the pleasures of his first garden in properties he acquired, such as the “Moulin du Coudret” in Milly-la-Forêt and “la Colle Noire” in Provence.
“The Rhumbs” have forever evoked for him this unforgettable myth which knew how to nourish his artistic inspiration.
The rose, as a pattern, shape and color, is found with lily of the valley and jasmine throughout its collections. The queen of flowers will be at the origin of her famous silhouette of the «Flower Woman» in her first parade in 1947. At the end of the war, she perfectly embodied a joy of life rediscovered with her soft shoulders, her slender waist and her wide skirts like petals.
The rose is also found at the heart of its perfumes like the very first «Miss Dior» which will open the ball to many scents.
