For Folon, in the face of the ills of society, wars, weapons, violence, nuclear power which cause enormous suffering throughout the world, only Hope in the heart of the eternal child in each being can save humanity and lead it towards peace and light.
At the heart of the exhibition, 22 watercolors made in 1988 for the fortieth anniver- sary of the Declaration of Human Rights for Amnesty International are presented in majesty.
Chromatic signage is used for each section of the exhibit. Thus, “Man and the Metro- polis” travels in oil gray symbolizing pollution mixed with smoke and fog. “La Na- ture” wears its iconic green while “Man and War” bathes in the scarlet red of blood. A celestial blue envelops the utopian horizons of the “Declaration of the Rights of Man” while the “Chambers of Hope” are shrouded in pearl grey.
Folon’s critical vision is lightened when he comes into contact with his famous blue men with hats, emblematic figures of his work.
As for his beautiful watercolors, they show his whole poetic universe and lead us to a better world.
A sweet and very contemporary journey, a light to cherish to see it grow again and again in these heavy times...
