Whether it burns the wings of the unfortunate Icarus in his imprudence, whether it gently ca- resses the dawn under the brush of a Turner or whether it lies down tenderly on the waves in the gaze of Monet, the royal star is alternately ter- ribly dangerous or divinely generous, implacable or loving.
