For the first time, a French museum, the Piscine Roubaix Museum of Art and Industry, is devoting an exhibition to William Morris (1834- 1896), a multifaceted British artist.
Roubaix, because of its privileged and close relationship with Anglo- Saxon culture since the beginning of the 19th century, was called the “Manchester of the North”. This textile city in the North of France is in perfect harmony with the thought of William Morris.
Designer, writer, printer and architect, William Morris lived a politically and ecologically engaged life.
He defended his ideas using all possible supports for his creativity.
