For Anna Wintour, the famous editor-in-chief of American Vogue and for many art lovers, this marvel of simplicity with its elegant and refined sophisti- cation is one of the four most extraordinary photographs ever published in the magazine.
It was at the age of 30 that Huene met Horst P. Horst, photographer and com- panion of his entire life and all his activities. They traveled together, from Paris to London, from New York to Hollywood, where Huene devoted himself to cinema, becoming a color producer, alongside directors and screenwriters.
The exhibition presents more than one hundred images in ten thematic sections that follow the stages of the life of Huene celebrating 125 years since his birth.
Susanna Brown, for twelve years at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, is the curator of this Milanese exhibition, the first dedicated to Huene in Italy.
George Hoyningen-Huene was a visionary of photography, capable of transfor- ming light and composition into pure visual poetry.
An undisputed master of portraiture and fashion photography, his lens captured the essence of haute couture in the 1920s and 1930s for iconic magazines, then turned to the golden age of Hollywood, working as much on the faces of the stars as on the enchantment of backstage photography.
