INThéoule-sur-Mer, the feminine and organic curves of the Palais Bulles overlook the Bay of Cannes. Built by the Hungarian architect Antti Lovag for the industrialist Pierre Bernard in 1984, the 1200m2 villa was the futuristic paradise of the couturier Pierre Cardin who bought it in 1992.
Of this troglodyte habitat inspired by the primary constructions of humanity, Cardin said that it evoked for him «the body of a woman».
The languid beauty offers a panoramic view of the sky and the sea, thanks to its thousand portholes and the labyrinths of its corridors that lead its guests into sumptuous spherical rooms. Devoid of any right angles, these real cocoons house the works of artists and incredible pieces of furniture from the 60s and 70s, the ultimate collection of the French designer who passed away in 2020.
A true architectural gem, this showcase of modernity is a pure cradle of creativity due to its astonishing design that combines all forms of art and culture. Built on its side, the Palais Bulles has its own open-air amphitheater.
