With the exhibition «David Hockney 25,» the Foundation Louis Vuitton
invites one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries to occupy all
eleven galleries for his largest exhibition ever.
After presenting the «legendary» works of his early career, David Hockney himself
has chosen to open the exhibition with the last twenty-five years of his work. He
offers the public a true immersion into his world and has personally designed this
exceptional presentation of seven decades of creation in an ongoing dialogue with
his assistant Jonathan Wilkinson.
More than 400 works from 1955 to 2025 are brought together. The exhibition fea-
tures creations created using a wide variety of techniques, including oil and acrylic
paintings, ink, pencil, and charcoal drawings, as well as digital works, including
photographic drawings, computer drawings, iPhone and iPad drawings and video
installations.
Primarily a draftsman and a master of all academic techniques, David Hockney has
always had the ability to reinvent himself and is today a champion of new technolo-
gies. The pool floor presents emblematic works from the 1950s to the 1970s, from
his early days in Bradford, then London, to California.
