Later, her legacy inspired Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and went on to influence-
cinema, photography, and contemporary fashion. In a surprising dialogue, 18th-cen-
tury objects interact with modern creations.
Dresses by Moschino, Dior, Chanel, Erdem, Valentino, and Vivienne Westwood bear
witness to the permanence of this stylistic language.
Costumes from Sofia Coppola’s Oscar-winning film, accompanied by shoes designed
by Manolo Blahnik, remind us how Marie Antoinette’s imagination continues to fuel
today’s artistic visions. Blahnik is sponsoring the exhibition and has even created a
capsule collection inspired by the queen, where Rococo frivolity is transformed into
contemporary elegance. The scenography is immersive, theatrical, and sensory, with
projections, audiovisual installations, and olfactory experiences reinventing the splen-
dor of the court of Versailles, right down to the queen’s favorite perfume. Visitors are
thus transported into a world where excess and refinement merge, reflecting a destiny
both glorious and tragic.
