Their volumes take space and give an impression of grace and lightness without hindrance, free from all the weight that could be granted. The figures of Botero are aerial like splendid balloons that take their ease in the sky of his paintings.
Only the colorful and elegant details of the clothes, the uniforms, the objects on which Botero concentrates give any indication of the role or power of his charac- ters and yet without any critical notion.
The exhibition presents some fifty works that retrace the themes dear to the artist and which are listed in ten sections: his debut, the homage to the Masters of the past, the still lifes, the circus, the Latin-American life, politics, bullfighting, religion, saints and female
nudes.
