The Musée Maillol offers a reinterpretation of his work in a dialogue with the great classical and modern sculptors of his time.
The exhibition presents more than fifty sculptures of the artist compared with twenty-five works by other major artists such as Rodin, Bourdelle, Mail- lol, Despiau but also Brancusi, Laurens, Lipchitz.
The chronological and thematic itinerary highlights the relationships with these artists and the stages of the evolution of Giacometti’s style.
His early works, imbued with classical modernity, echo Despiau and Maillol. Another section is devoted to his encounters with post-Cubism avant-garde Paris after 1925, Zadkine, Lipchitz and Csaky.
