Few decades have been enough to praise its magnificence.
This blue goddess born from the earth in 1987, the Paraiba tourmaline radiates its wonderful colors in the most famous jewel boxes.
Since its discovery by Brazilian Heitor Dimas Barbosa, «garimpeiros» of the mine of Baltha in the region of Paraiba, it was presented at the show in Tucson Arizona. In this mythical place, all the fans of exceptional gems come with the biggest buyers of the Place Vendome. The price of the Paraiba passes
from $ 5,000 per carat to $ 20,000 in a few days.
«Exorbitant for a tourmaline», exclaim some people, but beauty has a price.
Its fabulous color and its exceptional qualities hoist it at the rank of the most beautiful gems. The major jewelers like Harry Winston, Michele Della Valle, Martin Katz, Van Cleef & Arpels or Chopard seize and capture its splendor in their creations.
Only a few years after its entry into the great world, the mysterious tourmaline returns to the Earth. Brazil’s largest deposit runs out in 1993, leaving to the world thousands of small gems, but very few «stones» of more than 3 carats.
